Staying Competitive to Remain Relevant

Staying Competitive to Remain Relevant

As technology evolves, the work of communication professionals similarly expands, weighing decisions that impact business plans, team building and development, and customer engagement.

Here are a few tips to help your organization stay ahead of the pack:

Be Creative

Your audience knows who your competition is, so organizations should use what works for individual teams to execute goals rather than trying to keep up with every trend and falling behind. Listen to your employees to maximize role fits and foster growth. A team that is happy and prepared to do their job will deliver better results. This is supported by Devalekar (2021) stating that, “if you’re not taking your employee’s experience into consideration, your customers will go elsewhere: companies with highly engaged employees outperform their competitors by 147%”.

Additionally, the Forbes Technology Council states, “staying competitive is a product of continually developing innovative ideas, which is driven by an inspired creative team”, suggesting that ensuring the needs of employees are being met will have direct results on the quality of work delivered. This is supported by Cancialosi (2018) who asserts, “the shift to continuous learning in a psychological safe environment helps to shift the culture of the organization to support future efforts creating a generative cycle aimed at enhancing performance”. Healthy, happy teams influence the creative ideas which are necessary to drive business.

Add Value

It can be overwhelming deciding which new tools to implement into strategies and which messaging approaches to take, so understanding what information the audience wants to engage with and delivering on that can help establish value that can’t be gained elsewhere. The Forbes Technology Council asserts, “it is easy to get so sucked into the latest technology crazes, such as blockchain, machine learning, artificial intelligence and internet of things sensors, that you forget the essential focus for longevity: solving customer problems”. Giving your audiences something they can’t get anywhere else will establish your products or services as fulfilling a prominent need and delivering on dependability over time.

Use Resources

Analyzing information is crucial to how businesses perform. The Forbes Technology Council asserts that, “leading technology companies succeed because they understand how to leverage the data that is collected”. This is a monumental tool in uncovering aspects of business that might go unnoticed. If these are not identified early on, they can cause the entire business structure to crumble. Continually analyzing information provides measurable results for efforts.
